It is a big consolation to get LTSP even though you have failed to get PR status for your spouse. I guess those who manage to get LTSP have higher possiblity of getting PR, unless of cos your spouse have the requirements like educational certs to qualify.

Big Bro, usually ICA will grant minimum/maximum period of LTSP? coz from what i know if wanna apply for flat hor...HDB will want to see spouse's visa to be al least 6 months... Non-Citizen Spouse Scheme (NCS)The Non-Citizen Scheme allows a citizen with a non-citizen spouse to buy an HDB flat from the open market. If you wish to buy a resale flat under the Non-Citizen Scheme, you must meet the following eligibility conditions:Citizenship You must be a Singapore Citizen. Age You must be at least 21 if your spouse is holding a social visit pass (including work permit) of at least 6 months.
You must be at least 35 if your spouse is holding a social visit pass (including work permit) of less than 6 months. If the social visit pass expires during the resale transaction, you have to produce the renewed social visit pass at the point of completion of the resale transaction.Family Nucleus You are married to a non-citizen.Income Ceiling There is no income ceiling (unless applying for CPF Housing Grant). Ownership of Private Residential Property You can own private property (unless applying for CPF Housing Grant) but must live in the HDB resale flat. Ethnic Integration Policy You can buy an HDB resale flat in any town/estate as long as the approved proportion of your ethnic group has not been reached. To check, click Ethnic Group Eligibility or call HomeLink at 1800-8663060. CPF Housing Grant for Singles You may apply for the CPF Housing Grant for Singles if you meet all the eligibility conditions under the CPF Housing Grant Scheme for Singles.

LTSP normally is for 1 year, sometimes with luck u get it when u try to extend the normal visa of 2 wks, when u fill up the form to state how many mths extension.( just put 12mths) If you get the LTSP, you will need to go for medical before they issue the LTSP. I think HDB do not allow foreigners to co-own flat (as stated it must Include Work Permit) so i guess it doesnt apply here. Of cos if you are over 35yo then you can apply thru the single status. For my case, my wife was on LTSP and we had our first baby then liao so when i got my HDB i used my name and my child's name to apply, and subsequently when she finally got her PR then i included her name as co-owner. (pay legal fees lor)

what if no education at all??!! meaning slim chances? Nope.. my wife has only primary education. She got her PR after staying in Spore for over 2years, and that is with the first 9mths on 2wks extension before she got the LTSP. During my time (12yrs ago), i still see people applying PR for their spouse even when they have 2 kids liao.

Hi everyone, i followed bahnoo's thread from SBF to here. I am facing a similar problem in that i too would like to bring my girl to SG to stay, short term period (2weeks-1month) or even better if can longer. She has already come back to SG (using 2 different but legal passports and both with same name as the original one she use when she first work here--y 2 different passports because she lost her passports 2X, can you imagine how blur she is) for a couple of times since she ORD 1 yr plus back and there hasn't been any problems, until i saw some of the threads in SBF then we realised that she could have been sent to jail if she was ever ask to go for the fingerprint scan.
I have since stopped her from coming to SG until i can find a legal way that can allow her to come to SG to stay even if its for short term period at a time. We have asked around and what people and ICA have advised is that the safest way is to write an appeal letter to ICA and me becoming her sponser during her stay here but approval is not certain even if i meet the conditions and if the appeal were to be rejected, then she will never be able to come to SG again cos of the violation of ban and the use of different passports, hence we are hesitant to write the appeal letter.
Bro bahnoo, i just finished reading your thread in SBF, realised you went thought alot to also try to get your girl to SG, wondering if there is any advise you can kindly give to us. If bros here know any information that can help us or other couples whos in the same situation as us, pls feel free to post. Really appreciate any information.
Cheers, joe02
