Look like our Law does have feeling...
Thai in Singapore Jailed gets leniency reported in Bangkokpost.
Singapore (dpa) - A Thai woman once banned from entering Singapore is likely to get a shot at marital harmony after four weeks in jail, news reports said Saturday.
The saga of Wilasini Maniwan, 21, and her Singaporean husband, Or Chee Koon, 30, has spanned nearly three years, two illegal entries, one baby and six appeals to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), The Straits Times said.
The ICA has decided to consider favourably another appeal from Maniwan to stay in the city-state once she serves her jail time.
In sentencing her on Friday, District Judge Danielle Yeow said she should have known better than than to try to enter Singapore illegally for the second time. Despite changing her name and identity, the woman was arrested at Changi Airport on February 8.
Maniwan met Or in Singapore in 2003. She overstayed her visa and was deported to her homeland, where she had a baby girl in April 2005, the court heard.
In June 2005, she sneaked into Singapore with her newborn and was ordered to return to Thailand by ICA.
When Or travelled to Thailand in February, Maniwan came along for the return trip with a new passport and new name: Maphatson Or.
Maniwan could have been jailed up to a year. Instead, the ICA officer prosecuting the case indicated the authority would consider her appeal to stay favourably.

at least ICA and concerning authorities do have some human touch. glad to hear that..and hope after that gruelling 4 months..all is well for the family. think having the baby is a blessing for them. since birth rate in spore is declining... maybe thats explain the approved appeal.
well...the baby saves the day!

Hope she get the approval and good luck to the Or family....
Singapore (dpa) - A jailed Thai woman married to a Singaporean has been spared deportation for at least one week, while authorities decide whether to allow her to stay and be reunited with her family, news reports said Thursday.
Three months pregnant with her second child, 21-year-old Wilasini Maniwan has completed a four-week jail sentence for lying on her immigration arrival form at Changi Airport.
Foreigners who commit crimes in Singapore are usually deported immediately after their sentences have been served.
Maniwan was reunited with her husband, 30-year-old Or Chee Koon on Wednesday at the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) building, The Straits Times said.
Her husband and the couple's 16-month-old daughter were ecstatic on seeing Maniwan.
"Jovee was laughing and dancing around while my wife was crying," Or was quoted as saying.
Maniwan was convicted last month of lying on a disembarkation form, on which she said she had never been prohibited from entering Singapore despite having been banned from the country in December 2004, after overstaying for nearly a year.
She tried to return bearing a new passport with a different name, accompanied by her husband and daughter, on February 8.
The couple were married in Thailand early this year.
"If she is deported, it will mean the family will be broken up and my wife will have to return to her family's Chiang Mai farm," Or told The Straits Times.
Or said the ICA told him it will consider his appeal for her stay very seriously.
